After a good win last weekend against arch-rivals CSKA, Lokomotiv will be looking to get another one over Zenit in an anticipated match. While Lokomotiv seem to have steadied the "train", Zenit continue to show indifferent showings. Actually after winning against Amkar, Zenit couldn't escape with a draw and recorded a 4-3 loss against Portugese outfit Nacional on their debut in the Europa League. Although I was somewhat disappointed with Zenit's result (also with that of Amkar & Dynamo) I believe that their match in mid-week could only be to our advantage. Fielding the first eleven, for sure Lokomotiv will expected to be a little more fresher physically than their counterparts.As I have already deduced, the upcoming Petersburg - Moscow derby will be very important to both sets of teams. Apart of the usual Lokomotiv-Zenit rivalry, the tomorrow derby will have an extra significance. With only one point separating the two teams I expect an evenly match were both Lokomotiv and Zenit will be looking to improve their 6th and 7th place respectively. Furthermore, with both teams still dreaming of winning the championship, I believe that this encounter will decide who will still have an unlikey chance to claim the league. Losing means the end of the championship dream.
According to fclokomotiv.com, Russian international midfielder Igor Denisov will skip the match due to injury he picked in the match with Nacional. However in any case he would have skipped the match because he is disqualified due to fact of the amount of yellow cards he picked. On the other camp, Semin has a full squad at his disposal. Moreover he can also count on the return of Torbinsky who is expected to play a part in the match.
