Wagner steams in at Lokomotiv

Despite yet to be made official by either Lokomotiv or Cruzeiro, Russian website championat.ru confirmed that the Railwaymen came into agreement with the Brazilians for the transfer of their number 10, Wagner Ferreira dos Santos. The fee involved is believed to be about 6 million euros. The player is expected to fly to Moscow at the end of this week in order to undergo medical examinations and sign the contract.

Wagner, 24 years old, is a left-footed attacking midfielder. However, his versatility also allows him to play comfortably as a supportive striker. His main attributes are powerful long shots and trademark freekicks. Actually the majority of his goals came through freekicks. Furthermore, the player seems to be technichally gifted. I believe that his agility will suit the Lokomotiv formation very well. Considering the inflating prices clubs are currently paying for limited skills, I believe that Lokomotiv struck a one hack of deal. 6 million for a player of his calibre is a real transfer coup! The fact that he is only 24 years of age is a bonus.

Despite such trasnfer brought me a great deal of satisfaction, however, to say the truth I am little bit perplexed by his transfer. Even though if his passing seems to be pinpoint, Wagner is not a natural playmaker, that is what Semin has been calling for. An ideal example is Aliev. Actually I am really curious and at the same time anxious of how will Semin will play. I mean who will get the chop. Despite Wagner use the right foot as well, he is a natural left footed. This means that Lokomotiv will have four attacking left footed attacking midfielders (Wagner, Bilyaletdinov, Gatagov and Torbinsky) on their rooster. Logically Semin is considering to play a left footed player on the right flank. But then how about Odemwingie? Will he take Sychev's place? I HOPE NOT!!! I just hope that if the transfer go through because Wagner seems the right player to up the Loko game. For sure the Lokomotiv fans deserve an end to this suffering. We are Lokomotiv, and we should always aim for the highest. All the best Wagner and welcome at Lokomotiv!!!
